About Hjärnkoll Blekinge
(H)järnkoll Blekinge is one of NSPH Blekinge’s operations with the mission to spread knowledge about mental illness through positive role models and thus counteract stigma, exclusion and discrimination.
Hjärnkoll works for increased openness about mental illness with the goal that everyone should have equal rights and opportunities regardless of mental functioning.
Three out of four have direct or indirect experience of mental illness, yet it can be difficult to talk about it. Many are afraid of being discriminated against or bullied. Others, who have no experience of mental illness, are afraid of making mistakes.
The core of Hjärnkoll is our ambassadors who themselves have experience of mental illness or are relatives of someone with mental illness. Our ambassadors lecture in a number of areas: about their journey in psychiatry, various mental illnesses and functional conditions, migration and recovery. They convey hope and commitment that it is possible to change a situation and work preventively around mental illness.
Hjärnkoll is a politically and religiously independent organization.
